Louie's Italian, Universal Studios Florida

7/2/2010

Neil (husband) and Lauren (daughter) spent the day at Universal Studios. They found themselves hungry around 1:00. Louie's was nearby and the line was short, so they stopped for a quick bite.

Louie's can be found on the New York set at the theme park. This restaurant features quick casual Italian fare, such as pizza by the slice, fettuccini, spaghetti and meatballs, and salads.

Lauren chose the fettuccini Alfredo and  breadstick for $6.99 and a PowerAde for $2.89.

The portion size was just right for lunch. The sauce was a nice creamy consistency and the pasta was cooked al dente, but the flavor was too bland. Lauren compared it to a Fazoli's fast casual sort of pasta dish - okay for a quick filling meal but very average in flavor. The breadstick was not warm and the texture indicated it had been sitting around for a while.

Neil ordered a slice of vegetable pizza and Caesar salad side for $7.19 and a 22 oz diet Coke for $2.59.

He found the pizza to be really tasty and fresh with a nice thin, slightly crispy crust. The vegetables on top were really chunky and fresh-tasting. The salad was pretty plain but the greens were crisp and the dressing was nice and tangy.

The restaurant itself was crowded since it was prime time for lunch. Although the lines for ordering moved quickly, they had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up. There is outdoor seating outside next to the lagoon, but on a hot, humid day most people want to eat indoors.

Overall rating: Okay for a quick and filling lunch, but nothing special.

Would you return: Maybe, if hungry and in the vicinity, but we wouldn't make a plan to eat here.
